have you ever been off-grid?

I’m not talking about being in a very remote place, far from civilization, and so on… no!

Really off-grid, meaning, no one on-site, like really no one at all, just you, your guide William, well, myself and a bunch of other animals (yes we are animals out there, you’ll discover that about yourself) like reindeers by the hundreds, mooses, eagles, wolverines, bears, grouses, minks and many others.

Anyway! In the evening you can always send a text to your loved ones just to socialize a bit...oh but wait, you can’t! We are truly off-grid, with no phone coverage of course! Damn!

far from your comfort zone, losing control of your surroundings!

  • Above the polar circle.

This exceptional and truly unique expedition is bringing you all the way to the Swedish mountain, as far north as Lapland, well above the polar circle where the sun gets so shy in winter and is venerated in summer like an ancient god!

To get to the mountains will already be an expedition: flight, train, one night to wait for the bus then helicopter. That’s just 1 way. Now the way back: boat, bus, another bus, train, flight! But this doesn’t matter, time seems to have stopped anyway, this is what Lapland does to you: time doesn’t matter anymore and you’ll learn to love the feeling of it!

  • No paths.

For 7 days we are going to hike throughout the mountains and plateaus of Padjelanta and Sarek National Park. Hiking every day towards the unknown (or at least that’s the feeling because, I, do have a perfect clue to what’s coming next in front of us).

Hiking the whole day is tiring and demanding especially because there are no paths out there and because distances are consequent but this shouldn’t scare anyone, you will make it. No paths but we make our own, the feeling of being alone, of being the first to ever set foot out there brings you such a surge of emotion that you need to live to understand to the fullest.

  • Piece of wilderness, forgotten by the gods of a forgotten time.

The toughness of the landscape in which you’re hiking, the weather that might not be on our side every day, far from your comfort, losing control of your surroundings, not having your beloved ones close by, far from your work routines, your meetings, even no phone coverage nor wifi… all these things are playing into the balance! You are going to experience something challenging and exceptional, not only because the landscapes are stunning or because the energy of this ancient sacred land is so magical but also because you are going to create yourself throughout this unique experience.

how the days will

pass?

Day 1 we will leave Jokkmokk where we will spend a night before heading to the mountain. The adventure begins with a helicopter flight over the Tarradalen valley, let’s avoid swarms of mosquitoes and go up in altitude! From Tarraluopal Stugorna where we are landing, we will start walking and this is what we’ll do all the way to the pier where a boat will take us out of the park on our last day.

Day 2 we will continue towards the Alatjakka glacier.

Day 3 of course, we will climb up there, we can’t just pass by without exploring the glacier! We will then sleep two nights at the same place, at the bottom of Alatjakka (after day 2 and day 3)

Day 4 we will have to take a path as we have to use two hanging bridges going over rapids that even We cannot cross without the help of bridges! But then we go off track again, as soon as the second bridge is crossed.

Day 5 feels like routine, breakfast, packing the tent, and carrying on hiking hard, but now your muscles are fit, your backpack is lighter, you feel like you’re flying over the mountains, your mind is shaped up, you’re getting stronger! And that feels great!

Day 6 is the last full day, we will go west of the majestic Akka, a sort of huge molar coming out of a crossroad of valleys, making the boundary between Padjelanta and Sarek national parks. If we can make it to the pier today we will, so we can catch the last boat to Ritsem and take the first bus to civilization in the morning of

Day 7. If not, be it, we will simply arrive later at Jokkmokk, the starting and ending point, where you’ll spend your last night in a real bed before catching your train back to Stockholm!
